We arrived in Florence around 6 pm and, once again, the
woman who was supposed to meet us couldn’t come so she sent her mother to let
us in. We weren’t impressed. We used the website airbnb.com to get the
apartment DON’T USE IT! I’m too lazy to go into details about the bitch who
owned the apt but the location was pretty great. We were across the bridge in a
very cool neighborhood with great restaurants.
The next morning we
got up bright and early and caught the bus back to the train station to catch
our tour bus to Sienna, San Gimignano, and some other place I can’t remember
the name of. A whirlwind tour, I would only recommend it if you really only
have one day to visit Tuscany, otherwise take your time and buy a guide book to
read. That night back in Florence we ate at a great restaurant called Zeb.
View from the first town that I cant remember the name of.

The giant unfinnished Duomo
View of San Gimignano, a town full of towers from the middle ages.
Tour of a winery in the chianti region
Delicious dinner
Our third and last day we stored our luggage at the train station and used the day to wander around again. First stop the amazing panini shop...
second stop the gardens...
We caught a 7pm overnight train to Milazzo that night and, oh boy, was that fun. Not really. Word of advice people, get a train to Naples and take the overnight ferry to the Aeolian Islands. Sleeper trains are never a good idea in the summer (what, the A/C doesn’t work?!).
So, tired, hot, and cranky we arrived in Milazzo, caught the bus to the port and a ferry to Salina. Ahhhh home again finally!

Cigar break before the train that ended up being 4 hours late.
